The amphibious screw-propelled vehicle (Scroller) is used at the McArthur River Mine (MRM) Tailings Storage Facility (TSF), to mechanically assist dewatering and densification of tailings.
The first phase was for a trial exploratory work period, and it established that mechanical scrolling achieved significant dewatering performance when compared to undisturbed control areas. This trial has now been extended to daily operations of the TSF, McCosker provides one scroller and operator and technical support to MRM and have modified the Scroller s capability to align with the material and specific site requirements.
