Whitehaven Coal (Formerly BHP) Rockland Dam package involved the remediation and improvement of the dam facility and its appurtenant structures.
The repair works in the erosion and sediment control/surface water management space includes repairs to outer embankment caused by water eroding the surface, revegetation, repair of drainage elements, installation of monitoring devices and construction of safety berms for safe access / egress.
The Dam repairs and upgrades consisted of Clearing and grubbing, topsoil stripping and stockpiling; Earthworks cut to spoil; Stockpiling and testing of earthworks fill materials; remediation of embankment crest involving the importation, conditioning and placement of general fill in line with project specifications and drawings conforming to QA/QC requirements.
On completion of the bulk earthworks above the civil team completed the installation of gabion structures & spillway sill. Temporary Works to support the above mentioned including access roads, go-line parking areas, site office, erosion and sediment controls.
