BLACKWATER MINE – Back Access road re-alignment r32-r42

Whitehaven Coal (Formerly BHP) required an upgrade to their onsite road facility. Access roads across site are heavily trafficked throughout the year by both heavy earthmoving machinery as well as light vehicles from time to time. Quality of works is paramount to ensure safe access is always maintained.

Completion of the back access road works required a number of temporary works areas including but not limited to access roads, go-line parking areas, site office, erosion and sediment controls.

Early works involved the investigation and protection of existing services; demolition of existing services as well as relocation of existing services (Fibre Optic Line, 66kV Overhead Stublines, HDPE Pipe Lines).

The bulk earthworks package included clearing and grubbing, topsoil stripping and topsoil stockpiling; excavation, box out and ground surface treatment, importation, stockpiling, blend condition and compliance testing of earthworks fill materials; placement of general fill to meet layers and compactive effort as called in the project specifications.

Finishing works included installation of drainage; pavement construction; road furniture and landscaping and safety bunds where required.
